Turbine Art Fair Editorial
Turbine Art Fair has over the past 11 years grown into one of the most anticipated events on Johannesburg’s arts calendar. Launched in 2013 and held annually during July, the Fair is a platform for visual arts professionals, galleries and collective art spaces to showcase their creative work. Turbine Art Fair attracts a diverse crowd of established art collectors, and seasoned and new arts enthusiasts, who flock to the annual event to enjoy accessible art, engage in informative talks and walkabouts as well as the festival atmosphere which is enhanced by the delicious array of food and drinks curated by The Forum Company.
For the 12th edition of Turbine Art Fair, we are proud to present Turbine Independent, an art fair theme, format and event that solidifies our roots and founding statement, “To Make Art Accessible.” In this edition, we aim to recognize and support artistic and entrepreneurial talent within the South African visual arts community, including galleries, independent curators, graduates, mid-career and established artists, collectives, printing studios, and project spaces falling under the small and microenterprise category. The Fair will provide exhibitors with an opportunity to showcase their artistic talent and business practice at our new venue, The Forum Hyde Park (Hyde Park Corner), from 26 – 28 July 2024.
