Daniel Chimurure was born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1990. After studying a short course in
computers he moved to Harare polytechnic to study Applied Art and Design. Daniel worked on
mixed medium paintings on canvas using discarded papers mostly old calendars, and he uses
printmaking skills. Daniel was mentored by artist Tapfuma Gutsa from 2011 and 2016.
Chimurure did workshops with various artists including a printing making workshop with artist
Ndashunye Shikongeni from Namibia. In 2019, he was a resident artist at Mbare Art Space, in
Harare. He exhibits regularly at various galleries in Zimbabwe. Recently, Daniel received a third
prize award in the category of painting for the inaugural Zimbabwe Visual Art Awards at the
National Gallery of Zimbabwe. Currently he lives and works in Harare.
