Q&A with MATTHEW PRINS
Presented by SALON NINETY ONE
1. Do you find that your practice shifts throughout the year?
During winter I find it much harder to be consistent with my practice. I usually paint at night as I have a full time job. I’ve always thought that if I was a creature of the wild, I would be the hibernating sort. The prospect of a warm bed is far more appealing than working late into the chilly evenings.
2. How would you describe your artistic process?
I usually am initially unsure about the execution. But, once I get started, the process naturally unfolded with the approach of building up layers of colour inspired by screen printing techniques.
3. What are you currently listening to?
Thom Yorke’s music never fails me and a new favourite I’ve been listening to Who Made Who.
