‘We Made The Constition’ – An Animated Story of the Making of the Constitution in 5 Episodes

These five animations provide a snapshot of the making of our constitutional democracy by interspersing drawings, archival photos, film, and a rich soundtrack. With their graphic novel feel, they have a theme of a journey, of struggle, and of overcoming, and draw on motifs of water, land, and fire.

Join us for this vivid glimpse of the evolution of a nation struggling to entrench human rights.

Watch the first two episodes of the animated story of our Constitution. Episode three, four and five to follow shortly.

Octavia Roodt notes the following on her contribution: “It was a pleasure and an honour to have made these drawings for the Constitution Hill Trust’s new website. The site teaches us about our country’s most important document, its founding and its function.
As South Africans, our Constitution declares that we are free from slavery, servitude & forced labour, and are free to express ourselves. I also worked with our right to privacy and to just administrative action.”
