Themba Msiza

Bio

Themba Msiza is a visual artist based in Soshanguve who works in mixed media. In his work, he comments on contemporary South African socio-political debates, inspired by popular culture and music, among others the work by Hip Hop artist Mo’Molemi. After matriculating, he enrolled in a Fine Arts degree at UNISA in 2012 which he could not pursue due to financial limitations. He trained as educational assistant in the Pretoria Art Museum preparatory program while continuing to produce art. His work was shown in a large scale solo exhibition entitled Asia: Go Tsamaya ke go Bona at Pretoria Art Museum in 2019, and in numerous group exhibitions, among others For Sale at Pretoria Art Museum in 2013, Genesis at BKhz and GraySCALE at St. Lorient Art Gallery in 2019. He was Tami Mnyele Fine Art Award top 100 finalist in 2021 and part of the Turbine Art Fair Unearthed mentoring programme in 2022.
