Sebotse Selamulela is a fine artist working in printmaking, painting and digital illustrations. She is currently a BA Fine Arts student at the University of the Free State. Selamulela’s work is a distinct exploration of cultural identity and socio-economic issues around the black economy. Her approach to artmaking is one that employs imagination and the exploration of oppressive cultural notions while also leaning into the influence of her township upbringing.
Selamulela’s work is inspired by the deconstruction of her religious identity to create her own identity that fully incorporates her spirituality and culture into one that serves to heal a community of people searching for their own understanding of self.
