Navel Seakamela is a Johannesburg based visual artist. Seakamela was born in Soshanguve, Tshwane and grew up in Tembisa. He completed his diploma in visual arts at Tshwane University of Technology in 2015, Pretoria, and has exhibited in multiple group exhibitions and competitions including the Thami Mnyele art gallery, PPC art competition in 2014/15 and Pretoria art museum in 2013.
Seakamela joined Dionysus Sculpture Works under the artist Angus Taylor in 2017, were he took part at the Tacit exhibition at NWU gallery in Potchefstroom as well as Absa Cape Epic commission in 2018.
The artist expresses his thoughts by creating mixed media charcoal drawing and paintings as an extension to investigate and have a better understanding of his inner circle, experiences and his consumers through depicting forms of self-representation to question blackness and masculinity adding on the notion of. individuals who are often marginalised or rather disenfranchised and under-appreciated in our Society.
