Lindo Zwane

Lindo Zwane

Lindokuhle Zwane was born in 1992 in Newcastle, South Africa. He works predominantly in painting, charcoal drawings as well as printmaking mediums. Lindo studied printmaking at the noteworthy Artist Proof Studios, where he also worked as a drawing facilitator for 3 years.

Lindo has won various awards in the sector including one of the country’s prestigious art competitions; the Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards, where he won the 2nd prize ( Ekurhuleni prize in 2017) and the painting merit award in the 2019 Thami Mnyele Arts Award.

Zwane’s work centers around feelings of nostalgia and the process of catharsis. He is interested in everyday life and where it’s headed, but also in how the past inextricably weaves itself into the present. The memory and influence of the past and the reality of the present often pose deep psychological challenges that he expresses through the work. The challenges come from the difficulty of being able to accept the past and acknowledge the present, particularly the chasm that can exist between those two realities.
