At the top of our calendar of winter activities to do in Johannesburg.
Its about time for the RMB Turbine Art Fair 2019! Weve partnered with the art fair for a few years and its always at the top of our calendar of winter activities to do in Johannesburg. In 2019, the Turbine Art Fair is back with a few changes but all the usual artsy fun youve come to expect.
Entering its seventh year, the Turbine Art Fair 2019 will be at a different venue! After happy and successful six years at the Turbine Hall in Newtown, the Turbine Art Fair has moved to a bigger venue.
According to the founder, Glynis Hyslop, the Turbine Art Fair has moved to improved the experience of attendees. Our vision for TAF has always been to develop young artists and grow the market for African art and elevate art collecting across a wider market. South Africans have really embraced this Fair since the beginning and we are delighted to be moving to a bigger venue in 2019.
What to expect at the Turbine Art Fair 2019
While the venue is different, its still going to be the TAF youve always loved. As has become tradition, the Fair will launch on Thursday with a VIP opening night during which attendees will get a glimpse of the 2019 exhibitions and installations.
Exhibitions
Art on walls is still one of the focal points at the Turbine Art Fair 2019. Various galleries and collectives will have spaces at the Fair, which means an opportunity to take in a lot of fine art.
Talks
The talks programme at Turbine Art Fair 2019 is geared toward those who think about art wholistically. Art isnt just for hanging on walls; its also a way to reflect and preserve the world. Its the way we want to see each other. Talks include the expected such as art collecting, to the complicated such as art criticism and visibility and representation.
For a multi-sensory experience, theTAF 2019 also offers attendees other activities including screenings and masterclasses in monotype and linocut. Theres also a full day childrens programme, which is great for families who enjoy sharing art experiences.
